OUR MISSION

Good Vibes Promotions was started in early 2008 by a raver and activist named John, who wanted to bring the feel of the Philly and New York Underground to the struggling Baltimore scene. For years John was a street promoter for various crews in the Baltimore and Philadelphia scene, namely Truskool Productions and Gods Basement in Philly. After some time of observing the veteran promoters involved withGods Basement John was ready to bring the underground to Baltimore. In June of 2008, Good Vibes threw their first official party at The Black Hole, "Hard Time". This event would create a tradition of themed hard dance costume parties that would change the Baltimore rave scene for years to come. After that event, Good Vibes parties went on a pretty much montly basis at The Black Hole and would become a permenant staple of this revolutionary party spot.. Over the past few years, Good Vibes has linked up with some other like-minded ravers and activists, who have helped to take this movement to a level that none of us thought were possible. Now in 2010, with the launch of our new website, Good Vibes will be stepping up their efforts on all fronts!!!!

It is an important goal of ours to keep this scene alive with as much FREE music and as many FREE events as possible. We are constantly putting out free mixes and original tracks from our artists as well as hosting atleast 1 free (weekend) EDM event every season and contributing to free weeknight events on a regular basis. It is a strong belief of ours that the rave scene is an underground counter-culture that should be free of the greedy corporate attitude that has infected almost every corner of mainstream culture. We have come to understand that to expect any kind of positive change in the world (or on a smaller scale, the scene) first you must project that positive energy out to the universe. As Ghandi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world." This is why we call our company "Good Vibes", because it is our goal to project positive energy and ideas out to the scene and the universe so others can catch on and make their own positive impacts on the world around them.

RAVE CULTURE IN THE AGE OF REVOLUTION

So you have found yourself at a rave but do you know why you’re here? its something that speaks to your soul without you noticing, deep down you can see the culture you were brought up in makes no sence. You’re here in search of that other path and now you have found it, but now that you’re here you still need to look deeper. This isn’t just a hobby or some place to go to escape your everyday life, this is a very involved social movement you have stumbled across. It may not seem like it because over the years the media has made our way of life look like a complete circus, so then that’s unfortunately what it has become for a lot of people. When the real meaning of rave culture is overshadowed by false steriotypes things get lost along the way. The djs get caught up in popularity contests, the junglists forget why they wear camo and the promoters forget who their throwing the parties for. Whats worse is ravers don’t realize that PLUR is a way of life not just a witty catchphrase that people use when their in a exceptionally good mood. Its about being peacefull when it isn’t easy, when your put to the test, its about passing that test by taking the high road. Don’t be selfish, that is the path of the ego that leads to your destruction, to our destruction as a whole.

In the early days of the rave scene and the later days of the hippie scene, people set out to create a new way of thinking and abandoned this self destructive western culture. It was common for people in the scene to study mystic gurus, discuss philosophy or organize political movements. There was a general idea of a different way of life that is possible, the life that Gandhi lived, one of peace, love, unity and respect. Why is it not so obvious that this is what rave culture is all about? Its because the counter culture has been infiltrated, it has been infiltrated just like many of the once great social movements, like hip hop or rock for example. Those nonsense ideas that we tried to leave behind, the greed, the ego they have now found their way into the scene and they have completely silenced the goal and message of the counter culture. And its up to us, right here, right now to change this, change ourselves, change the scene, change the world….for the better. We need to realize that not only do we have the power, but we have the RESPONSIBILITY to fix this. We all see the problem, its all around us it’s the very culture most of us grew up in that’s destroying the planet. And now we come to a fork in the path… we can come out and party on the weekend then go back home, turn on the tv, don’t ask any questions and go back to sleep or we can join the counter culture and use these events to teach, learn, dance and feel alive. We can seek enlightenment, we can help others, we can do the right thing even if it means making personal sacrifices.. These things are easy! And they are more rewarding then most people know, more fulfilling then anything that has a price tag, this is essentially what PLUR is all about. This idea is HUGE and most people don’t understand how huge it is. Think about it this way, Gandhi spent his life preaching peace, love, unity and respect and with that message he defied and conquered the most powerfull empire this world has probably ever seen. And that’s exactly how were gonna do it, just like he did. with peace, love, unity, and respect. We can be the illuminati’s worst nightmare if only we would learn to love and respect one another.
